3 OTs and Double Digits
Elks and Warriors Make Cal Pac History
HUNTINGTON BEACH,CA - In a game that felt more like a marathon than a basketball match, the Westcliff University Warriors managed to edge out Stanton University 104-100 on Wednesday night.
As Cal Pac play continues to heat up, this matchup served as a reminder of how high the stakes have become in conference competition. Stanton pushed the Warriors to the absolute limit, forcing three overtime periods at Golden West College before Westcliff finally secured the victory in the final minutes of the third OT.
Stanton's Triple-Threat Effort
Despite the narrow loss, the Elks showed incredible resilience, led by three players who logged nearly the entire game:
-
Nigel McKay: The sharpshooter was lethal from deep, draining six three-pointers on his way to a team-high 27 points and 9 rebounds.
-
Duje Srzic: A force in the paint and at the charity stripe, Srzic contributed 25 points, including a staggering 14-of-19 performance from the free-throw line.
-
Alex Stein: Playing a game-high 53 minutes, Stein did it all with 24 points and 6 assists, keeping the Elks' offense fluid through the extra periods.
The loss moves Stanton to 2-4 in conference play, while Westcliff improves to 3-2. With both teams showing this level of grit, the race for the Cal Pac standings is only going to get more intense as the season progresses.
