Elks Upset Bryant & Stratton - USCAA Champs In Landside Victory
Stanton Elks Make a Thunderous Debut at USCAA National Championship
Pittsburgh, PA — The Stanton Elks roared into the national spotlight with a commanding 4-0 victory over the two-time defending champions, Bryant & Stratton-Rochester Bobcats, in their first-ever appearance at the USCAA National Championship. The Pool Play opener at Montour Junction marked a historic moment for the Elks, a young and relatively unknown squad that shattered all doubts with their resounding performance.
Walking onto the pitch, the Elks were an untested force, uncertain of how they would match up against the perennial powerhouse Bobcats. But any nerves quickly turned to confidence as the game unfolded.
The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when #24 Julius Langbacka capitalized on a well-orchestrated attack, slotting the ball into the back of the net to give Stanton the lead. Just seven minutes later, Lucas Valle delivered a stunning strike in the 35th minute, doubling the advantage and putting the Elks firmly in control as the first half came to a close.
With a 2-0 cushion at halftime, the Elks regrouped with determination. They emerged in the second half with the same intensity that had fueled their early success. Valle, the standout of the match, struck again to notch his second goal of the tournament in the 56th minute, further silencing the Bobcats' hopes of a comeback.
Bryant & Stratton pressed hard for a response, but the Elks' defense held strong, frustrating the reigning champions at every turn. In the 78th minute, Francesco De Marco delivered the final blow, sealing the game at 4-0 and ensuring Stanton's triumph would be one to remember.
This victory not only marked a significant milestone for the Elks but also turned heads across the USCAA. Entering the tournament as underdogs, Stanton's emphatic win against the mighty Bobcats dispelled any skepticism about their capabilities.
"Our team came here with a purpose, and we showed that we belong on this stage," said head coach Diogo Pereira. "The boys played with heart and discipline, and I couldn't be prouder of their effort tonight."
Up next for the Elks is a clash with Lyon College, where they'll look to build on this momentum and continue their remarkable run in the tournament. One thing is clear: the Stanton Elks are here to stay, and the nation is taking notice.
